  • The Firm is QCR rated by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP).
  • The Firm has been placed in Category “A” by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on the panel of auditors maintained under section 35 of the Banking Companies Ordinance, 1962.
  • The Firm is also approved auditors to perform the audits of Insurance Companies under section 48(1) of the Insurance Ordinance, 2000.
  • Similarly the Firm is on the panel of auditors of Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) eligible to perform the audit of Non-Banking Finance Companies (NBFCs) including leasing companies and Modarbas.

The Firm is an independent member of BKR International, a worldwide alliance of independent and professional accounting firms represented in all strategic locations throughout the world. In its current composition BKR International is a non-profit association of more than 160 leading-edge accounting and business advisors located in over 500 cities in 80 countries.


The Firm was established in the year 1961 at Karachi and subsequently offices at Lahore and Islamabad were established. Originally the founding partner Mr. M. Afzal Munif (Late) started his practice in 1961 as a sole proprietor of M/s. Muniffs & Co., Chartered Accountants and later became the partner of M/s. Muniff Ziauddin & Co., Chartered Accountants along with the other founding partner Mr. Ziauddin Babri (Late).


M. Afzal Munif served the profession for more than five decades. He served various terms on the ICAP’s Council for 16 years from 1975-76 to 1991-92 and served as vice president for the terms 1977-79 and 1986-87 and was elected as president of the Institute for the year 1988-89. He also served on various standing and other committees of the ICAP. Besides, he widely travelled the world over and represented the ICAP in several conferences and seminars including SAFA, International Congress of Accountants, CAPA, International Federation of Accountants and also represented as a delegate to Government of Sindh and Government of Pakistan in the World Bank meetings.

His dedication and valued contributions to the profession of accountancy and the ICAP will always be remembered.


He was a fellow member of the ICAP and Auditor/lead Auditors of BSI London. He was a founding partner of the firm and in charge of the Lahore office. He had over 40 years experience in the field of accounting, auditing and management consultancy services, he also served on various committees of the ICAP. He enjoyed the experience of working on various assignments from Government of Pakistan, Central Board of Revenue, SECP, Government of Punjab and many other institutions including public and private entities on a variety of professional assignments.

Moin Khan

M. Moin Khan is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and was associate member of International Fiscal Association (IFA) Netherlands.

He is associated with Muniff Ziauddin & Co. for more than 30 years. He specializes in Auditing, accounting and management advisory services. He has attended several national and international conferences and seminars on various aspects of auditing, accounting and taxation. During his tenure with Muniff Ziauddin & Co, he worked on various assignments and provided variety of professional services in the field of audit, taxation, corporate affairs and management consultancy. He has the honor of supervising and conducting the statutory audit of State Bank of Pakistan for a consecutive period of four years.

He has also carried out a number of assignments for the Privatization Commission Government of Pakistan/ Government of Sindh and other Government owned units. He has also undertaken exercises for revaluation of assets of various listed and non listed companies and government entities.

On appointment from the Central Board of Revenue, Government of Pakistan, he enjoyed the experience of conducting audit of various organizations under section 32A of the Sales Tax Act 1990 and under section 4A of the repealed Income Tax Ordinance 1979.

He also acquired substantial experience to provide services of arbitration, adjudication as well as dispute resolution on the orders of the High Court of Sindh.

He has also conducted a number of special audits which include the following;

  • Audit of institutions of Government of Sindh to detect misappropriation of funds.
  • Special audits of various institutions under the prudential regulations of State Bank of Pakistan.
  • Special audit of various institutions under the direction of Honorable High Court of Sindh.

Shahid Farid

He graduated as Bachelor of Commerce from University of Peshawar in 1991 and Qualified as Chartered Accountant in 1997. He worked in large industrial groups before starting public practice in 2001. He is also member of Institute of Chartered Secretaries, Institute of Taxation Management, Institute of Public Finance Accountants, Institute of Financial Consultants (USA). Mr. Shahid Farid, FCA has more than 25 years of professional experience and expertise. He was/is member of different Committees of SECP and FBR. Mr.Shahid has extensive experience in Feasibility Studies, Financial Arrangements, Corporate Consultancy and Auditing. However core subject of interest is Taxation. He has rich experience of handling a large number of national and international consultancy assignments.

Muhammad Ali Latif

He is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP), Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) and a Chartered Public Finance Accountant (CPFA). He is the current President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and he has also served on various Committees of the ICAP. He has over 12 years of professional experience and specializes in development of fully integrated accounting and financial management system for private as well as public sectors enterprises. His experience is spread over a wide spectrum of areas including but not limited to Auditing, Systems Development, Financial and Management Consulting, Preparation of Feasibility studies, Taxation etc.


Salim is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan as well as a fellow member of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants. He has more than ten years of professional experience in the Assurance and Advisory department, and is affiliated with Muniff Ziauddin & Co (MZ) Karachi office for the same duration. Before joining MZ, he completed his three years of professional training from KPMG Taseer Hadi & Co. He joined MZ as Manager Audit and Assurance in the year 2010; and promoted to Partner in 2013 in the Assurance and Advisory services practice area.

He is responsible for supervision of external audits of various clients in diversified sectors; in accordance with IFRSs & local regulations, and is the key technical resource of the Firm, with high regard from clients on his technical expertise. He is also well conversed with IFRS, ISA, corporate laws, labor laws, AML framework, drafting of business agreements and establishment of internal controls; and provide assistance and advisory to clients in all these aspects.

During his period of affiliation with the Firm, he has completed many assignments which comprises of, but not limited to, development of internal control manuals, human resource manual, transaction accounting advisory, designing of accounting & management information systems and procedural guidelines, business valuation, due diligence, risk management, fair valuation and customer relationship valuation.

He also plays an active role in the training & development of the Firm’s professional staff and also serves as Engagement Quality Control Reviewer (EQCR) and monitor for the Firm.

Sohail Saleem

Sohail Saleem is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountant of Pakistan (ICAP) with over 10 years’ experience in audit, accounting and IT consultancy. He is experienced in handling audit & review assignments of various local and multi-national clients from different sectors, including Banks, NBFCs, brokerage houses, manufacturing concerns etc.

Besides auditing and assurance, he's specialized in providing Information Technology based services to the clientele and has performed numerous IT based audits. He has been performing a leading role in designing, developing and implementing internal IT solutions as well as for various clients and has been actively involved in staff training & development.

Muhammad Aslam

Mr. Muhammad Aslam who is a fellow member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, London, UK, and a post-graduate from Hailey College of Commerce, University of the Punjab, Lahore.

He has approximately 45 years’ experience in industry and profession, largely in the field of finance, tax, treasury, audit and risk curtailment; 21 years at senior management position in a blue chip UK subsidiary that won a number of KSE awards.

For over 20 years, he has directly served the interest of business community from the platform of the Overseas Investors Chamber of Commerce and Industry as a member and/or co-chairman of a number of Standing Sub-Committees.

He has also served as Chairman on ADRCs (Alternative Dispute Resolution Committees) constituted by the Federal Board of Revenue, Government of Pakistan. Moreover, he is / has been a member of:

  • Professional Standards and Technical Advisory Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan for the last five years
  • The then Taxation Advisory Committee of the RCIT, Southern Region, Karachi
  • Faculty of Pakistan Institute of Corporate Governance
  • Visiting faculty of a reputable educational institute / university
  • Income Tax Bar Association, Karachi

He has attended several international and local training courses, conferences and seminars in the fields of finance, treasury, risk management, information technology, business process reviews, Company Secretarial practices and general management.

Musharraf Zaman Khan

Mr. Musharraf Zaman Khan, FCA is a senior member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. He has more than 40 years diversified experience of working in the profession, industry, and education in Pakistan, Middle East and US. He has vast experience in implementing the internal controls and computerization of accounting and other related systems.

Mr. Khan graduated from Karachi University in 1970 and joined Mushtaq & Co. Chartered Accountants for his CA training. He worked for GCC from 1977 to 1984 in various positions in Alkhobar and Jeddah. He moved to US in 1984 for further education and joined University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) and obtained Professional Designation in System Analysis and System Management. He worked for North Star Minerals, Inc., an oil & gas exploration company having 9 corporate entities and 22 limited liability partnerships. In 1987 he joined National Refinery Ltd as head of internal audit. In 1988 he moved to Exide Pakistan Ltd as Manager Finance where he worked for four years.

He had been delivering lectures at ICAP and ICMAP. He also established School of Business Studies (SBS), one of the pioneers in accounting education, which imparted education to students of CA, ACCA, CIMA, CISA, CIA, CPA and ICA (England & Wales). Moreover he was pioneer in introducing study packs for the CA and ACCA students with the collaboration of AT Foulks Lynch and BPP, leading publishers of England.


Arqum Naveed is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan with rich experience in audit, accounting and financial advisory in the financial sector. Before joining the Firm, he completed his professional training from KPMG Taseer Hadi & Co. He also plays role in the training & development of the Firm’s professional staff and trainees.


Maham Moin is an associate member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan. She also graduated with a degree of BS Accounting and Finance from Institute of Business Administration, Karachi (IBA) in 2018.

Prior to joining Muniff Ziauddin and Co., she served as an audit trainee at A.F Ferguson and Co (a member firm of PwC). She has attained experience in handling assurance and advisory assignments of various local and multinational clients from different sectors. Currently, she is serving as Partner - Advisory at Muniff Ziauddin and Co. and has completed many assignments which comprise of, but not limited to, development of policy and procedural manuals, process improvements and benchmarking projects, business valuations and related services.

She also plays an active role in the training and development of the Firm’s professional staff.
